How do I change how ShotPut Studio handles copy jobs?

Open Settings > General. Under Copy Options, you can configure how jobs are started, how multiple jobs are sequenced, how errors are handled, and how duplicate files and naming conflicts are resolved.

What happens when a copy error occurs?

The behavior depends on your Cancel Copy if Error Occurs setting. When enabled, the copy process terminates when an error occurs. When disabled, ShotPut Studio can continue processing the remaining files and include error warnings in the reports. Depending on the situation, the application may also provide options to retry the affected file.

How does ShotPut Studio handle duplicate files?

Enable Automatically Skip Duplicate Items to skip files that already exist at the destination with matching modification dates and byte sizes. Skipped files are identified in PDF and TXT reports.

Be aware that when this option is enabled, ASC MHL seals may contain partial results because some source files may not be copied.

How does ShotPut Studio handle naming conflicts?

Enable Automatically Rename Destinations Upon Collision to differentiate conflicting destination names by adding a number. If this option is disabled, ShotPut Studio will warn you when duplicate names are found.

How do I preserve the original file dates when copying?

Enable Keep Source Creation Date When Copying and/or Keep Source Modification Date When Copying in General Settings. These options preserve the corresponding dates from the source rather than using the date of the copy.

Can ShotPut Studio copy Finder tags?

Yes. Enable the Finder Tags setting to copy tags assigned to files and folders in Finder along with the media.

How do I exclude certain file types from an offload?

Under Copy Options, use Copy/Ignore by File Extension to either ignore specific extensions or only copy files with specified extensions. Enter the extensions you want to filter and confirm each one.

Be careful when using file filters. Excluded files will not be copied and may be permanently lost when source media is reformatted or reused.

Can ShotPut Studio automatically erase source cards after copying?

Yes. ShotPut Studio integrates with Parashoot to trigger source erasure after a copy job completes. Download and launch Parashoot, configure its destinations, and enable Automatically erase source after copy in ShotPut Studio's Parashoot settings.
