What is the difference between Sync and Compare?

The Sync Tool offers two operations. Sync copies items found in the source but missing from the destination, helping bring the destination's folder structure in line with the source. Compare examines two files or folders and displays the differences without copying anything.

How do I sync two folders?

Open the Sync Tool and drag a folder into the top queue to set it as the Source. Drag the folder you want to update into the bottom queue as the Destination. Select Sync from the operation dropdown and start the job.

How does Structure Equality Sync work?

Structure Equality Sync compares file paths as well as the files themselves. If a file exists in both locations but in different folder paths, ShotPut Studio will copy it to the destination in order to match the source's structure.

How do I compare two folders without copying anything?

Open the Sync Tool, add the source folder to the top queue and the folder you want to compare to the bottom queue. Select Compare from the operation dropdown and click Start. ShotPut Studio will display the comparison results without changing either folder.
