How do I change how ShotPut Pro handles copy jobs?

Open the application's Settings menu and select General. Here you can configure global options for copying, verification, media analysis, and queue automation. Individual Presets can override certain global settings.

What happens if a copy error occurs?

The behavior depends on the Cancel Copy if Error Occurs setting. When enabled, ShotPut Pro terminates the copy process if a failure occurs. When disabled, the application can alert you to the error and continue processing other files, with error warnings included in reports. Depending on the situation, you may be given options to resolve the error or retry the affected file.

How does ShotPut Pro handle duplicate files or naming conflicts?

You can enable Automatically Rename Destinations Upon Collision to differentiate conflicting names by adding a number. Otherwise, ShotPut Pro warns you when duplicates are found.

You can also enable Automatically Skip Duplicate Files. This checks for files that already exist at the destination with matching modification dates and byte sizes. Skipped files are identified in PDF and TXT reports. If this option is enabled, an MHL seal may contain only partial results because some source files might not be copied.

How do I preserve the original file dates when copying?

In General Settings, enable Keep Source Creation Date When Copying and/or Keep Source Modification Date When Copying. These options preserve the corresponding dates from the source rather than using the date of the copy. Note that not all cameras or cards provide the necessary date information.

Can ShotPut Pro copy Finder tags?

Yes. Enable the Finder Tags setting to copy tags assigned to files and folders in Finder along with the data.

Can I automatically erase a source card after copying?

ShotPut Pro integrates with Parashoot to trigger source erasure after a copy job completes. Download and launch Parashoot, configure its destinations, and enable Automatically erase source after copy in ShotPut Pro's Parashoot settings. Make sure your copy and verification workflow is complete before allowing source media to be erased.
